Is it too soon to go back to school?

After the Earthquake and the Tsunami hit japan many of the schools in the effected regions have been destroyed or converted to shelters. It is April and the start of the new school year for many in Japan. The goverment is trying to get many of the students to attend school saying it will be good for them and will get them back into some sort of routine. History lessons in Elementary schools?

When I interviewed the teacher that I observed for my intro to teaching class she had told me that many of her students dont know much about history at all when they are coming into her class. Many elementaty schools are cutting out the history lessons all together. In my opionion I think it is important to know the acomplishments of the people that came before us and why the world is the way it is today.
